Inter-county Fixtures

WSBA teams regularly compete in inter-county fixtures, against teams from other counties in England.  The main inter-county leagues / events that we compete in are:

1. U18 Inter Counties Tournament (ICT) : this is the premier annual junior inter-county tournament in Nottingham. Teams of 5 boys and 5 girls from over 35 counties compete over 4 days in singles, level doubles and mixed doubles. WSBA routinely sends a team to this event, and in 2019 came first.
2. U18 Railway Institute Open Tournament (RIO), York : teams from 8 counties compete over a weekend in singles, level doubles and mixed doubles. WSBA routinely sends a team to this event, and in both 2018 ands 2019 won the Tournament.
3. Shires League : Teams from upto 40 counties compete in U13, U15, U17 and U19 age group leagues, following changes in 2021/22 season.  6 fixtures played in the group stages, and the top 8 teams playing in the Shires Final.  WSBA normally has at least one team entered at each age group, and our first team normally reaches the finals at each age group.  A limited number of U21 fixtures are also run.
4. North Midway Badminton League : this is played in Sheffield at U11, U13, U15 and U17 age groups, with two legs for each age group.
5. Various team events, in particular those run by Yorkshire for U12, U14 and U16 (specific details vary by season).
