Warwickshire Schools Badminton Association is the county badminton organisation for junior players. Junior players are defined as being under the age of 18 as at 31 December following the end of a specific season. Junior badminton players can apply to be a member of WSBA through the annual trials process, normally held in May each year. If selected to join one of our main squads, a player will become a member for the specified season, provided that their membership fee is paid by the required date. As well as meeting the necessary skill standard in badminton, a player must meet at least one of the following criteria in order to be selected:
Players must also be able to attend WSBA training sessions regularly, and be able to attend team events if selected. Training sessions are held in Coventry.
For safeguarding reasons, WSBA communicates with responsible adults (parent/legal guardian) rather than individual players, other than our coaches speaking to individual players during training or fixtures. It is therefore a requirement of membership of WSBA that a responsible adult is actively involved with each player's membership.
WSBA annual membership fees are set at our Annual General Meetings (AGM) and covers training fees, a county shirt and Badminton England membership.
Our annual trials dates will be advertised on this website, with full details about how to enter. If you want to find out more, especially mid-season, please email us.
